Where It All Began

It all began when my now-wife — then a single mother — started cleaning homes to support her children. After stepping away from her career in motor auctions, she began offering housekeeping services. With grit, care, and an unshakable work ethic, Betzys House Keeping was born.

Love & Business Unite

As fate would have it, we met, fell in love, and joined forces — both in life and in business. After navigating some tough early years, we committed fully to the business and never looked back. Our first big opportunity came knocking when Taylors Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, who we'd worked with on various jobs, approached us about taking over their business.

Growing From Our Home

As we expanded, ironing became our next venture. We'd take ironing home after a full day's work, pressing late into the night to ensure same-day service for our customers. With our home bursting at the seams with ironing, we knew we needed a proper space. That's when we found our little shop in Yoxall — a moment that changed everything. Thanks to some amazing people who believed in us, we took the leap and Betzys Cleaning Service was born.

2020

A Year of Challenges

February 7th, 2020 — we proudly opened our doors and became an agent for Cherringtons dry cleaners. But just weeks later, on a Sunday morning, we received that dreaded call about flooding in the area. The Crown pub opposite was knee-deep in water, and we couldn't even reach our shop. In true community spirit, we helped clear water from the pub before checking our own premises. Then March brought COVID-19, and suddenly our future looked very bleak. We maxed out credit cards and took loans to survive, and thanks to government and council support, we managed to keep our dream alive.

Taking Bold Steps

When Cherringtons announced they were closing their doors, my wife saw another opportunity. After some long discussions — well, she had her heart set on it, and that was that! We found space on a farm for the dry cleaning equipment, and just as things were looking up, the historic Lichfield Laundrette became available. Despite not having the money, we took another leap of faith. Once again, amazing people and family stepped in to help us get established.

Popular Burton shop closes after 30 years

"Cherringtons dry cleaners was based in the Market Place, in the town centre and had been the go-to cleaning firm for Burton families for generations. While the shop is now closed, the business will continue after it was taken over by Betzy's Cleaning Service, based in Main Street, Yoxall, which has rebranded and will be known as Laundry Shack."

Bittersweet Changes

Running three locations proved challenging, and with heavy hearts, we had to close our beloved little shop in Yoxall — where it all began. Our wonderful landlords had been part of our journey from the start, making the decision even harder. We consolidated our operations to better serve our growing customer base, always keeping our commitment to quality service at the heart of everything we do.

Today, we're navigating the challenges of a tough economic climate, doing everything we can to keep our passion and business alive. We remain committed to the same values that started it all — quality, reliability, and treating every customer like part of the family.
